Foundation
Foundation Overview and Mission
St. Catherine’s Center for Children is a publicly-funded, not-for-profit 501(C)3 human services provider. Financing for the programs offered by St. Catherine’s comes from local, state and federal entities which provide oversight and funding for a wide range of human services that meet the needs of at-risk children, families, and adults.
Unfortunately, the vulnerable populations St. Catherine’s serves often need more than public funding can provide. That’s where the Foundation of St. Catherine’s Center for Children enters the picture.
The Foundation is entrusted with seeking philanthropic support to cover gaps in public funding. That additional funding may come in the form of cash donations from individuals, businesses, and other friends and supporters. Grants from private Foundations and public entities, i.e. federal, state, and local human services funders, are also actively pursued as a potential resource. The Foundation also raises funds by hosting special events. Additional support is provided through the collection and distribution of in-kind gifts, including food, clothing, toys, backpacks, and household goods. Finally, the Foundation encourages public support of the agency and its mission through donated services and volunteer projects.
St. Catherine’s Center for Children is registered as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) human services provider. Contributions to St. Catherine’s are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. St. Catherine’s tax identification number is 14-1338455.

A Message from the Executive Director
of the Foundation of St. Catherine’s
For nearly 140 years – since we first opened our doors in the spring of 1886 – St. Catherine’s Center for Children has cared for the most vulnerable children in the Capital Region. In the ensuing decades, we grew and evolved, adding new programs and services to meet the changing needs of the communities we served. Today, St. Catherine’s is a leading regional provider of human services, empowering children, families, and adults to lead healthier and happier lives.
The Foundation of St. Catherine’s Center for Children serves to raise funds and find resources to supplement the comprehensive array of programs and services St. Catherine’s provides. Those services support the homeless and those at-risk of becoming homeless, abused and neglected children, students with special educational needs, and parents struggling to keep their families intact.
As a not-for-profit organization, St. Catherine’s relies on our friends and community partners to meet the many needs of the people we serve. I invite you to learn more about the ways you can support St. Catherine’s by clicking the links on this page. Your support – at any level or in any capacity – is always greatly appreciated.
