About Dr. Wallingford
Dr. Arthur J. Wallingford was all about faith, family, and community. Born in Albany in 1937, Dr. Wallingford graduated from the Vincentian Institute and continued his education at the College of the Holy Cross. In 1963, he graduated from Albany Medical College with a Doctor of Medicine degree. He and his wife, Graceann, raised five children and eight grandchildren together.
During Dr. Wallingford’s residency at Albany Medical Center, he performed the very first intrauterine fetal transfusion for amniotic fetus sex-identification from amniotic fluid cells. Upon completion of his medical training, Dr. Wallingford served the U.S. Air Force as chief of the OB/GYN division at Otis Air Force Base in Falmouth, MA.
After his military service, Dr. Wallingford returned home to Albany to join his father, Dr. Arthur J. Wallingford, Sr., at Albany Obstetrics and Gynecology where he would practice for the next 45 years. He also served on the staff of Albany Medical Center, St. Peter’s Hospital and Child’s Hospital.
We are forever grateful for Dr. Wallingford’s contributions. He was a special friend to St. Catherine’s and the entire Capital Region.
