Celebrating the film
Honoring James J. & Kathleen Morrell
Friday, May 4, 5:30 pm
at The Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 400 Old Loudon Road, Latham
In 1999, ESPN announced its Top 50 Athletes of the 20th Century. Number 35 on the list—ahead of Mickey Mantle, Walter Payton, and Ben Hogan—was thoroughbred race horse Secretariat, winner of 1973’s Triple Crown. Secretariat still holds the record for the fastest Kentucky Derby ever run, and his 31-length lead over the field at the Belmont Stakes will never be seen again!
St. Catherine’s Center for Children is proud to announce that the 2010 film Secretariat, celebrating the life of a champion, is the subject of our 10th Annual SCCCript & SCCCreen Gala. The gala will be held on Friday, May 4—at the start of Kentucky Derby weekend—and we invite you to join us!
St. Catherine’s SCCCript & SCCCreen Gala is our premier fundraiser of the year. We honor a different film each year, and Secretariat offers the opportunity to celebrate an inspiring film and the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby—The Run for the Roses, “the most exciting two minutes in sports.”
Our 10th Annual SCCCript & SCCCreen Gala gives us another reason to celebrate. This year, the gala will honor Jim and Kathy Morrell. Jim and Kathy are not only long-time supporters of St. Catherine’s, but their charitable work has benefited many organizations over the decades, including Albany Medical Center, Blue Star Mothers, Catholic Charities, The Center for Disability Services, Make-A-Wish Foundations, Siena College, 9/11 relief efforts, and many other incredible organizations and causes that have enriched so many lives.
Of course, your support of this event supports another worthy cause: the children, families and adults we serve!
